18. Karrysutra
At Østerbro is a modern Indian take away with good curry dishes and fresh baked bread wrapped in a delicious package. You can download them, get them on your doorstep (if you live on Østerbro) or eat them at one of the small tables in the take away'en.
Name
Karrysutra is an abstraction of Kamasutra, a oldindisk book on love art. Like sex is a prerequisite for humanity sustainability is food is a necessity for individual survival. But we can well make a virtue out of necessity ...
Eat with your fingers
Indians have a natural relation to their food, and Karrysutra asks that you let the bribe is in the drawer and instead wash your hands (as you always do before you eat) and eat with your fingers. Eating with your fingers signals in India equity and uhøjtidlighed and well suited to take-away food shared with someone you like.
hare with each other
In India share several dishes served ii large bowls and dishes. Portion dishes is a Western artifice, and it is fun to taste a lot different than just eating right. A typical måtid consists of a couple or three curry dishes, bread, rice and mint yoghurt, which may dampen chilli taste if it gets too hot.
Dinner
Chef Zafar Parwaiz trained in a traditional Indian restaurant in England, where it is almost a good Indian restaurant on every other street corner.
Karrysutra makes its own curry blends, the backbone of all the main courts. As they write in their brochure: Curry is not a single spice, and the moon is not made of green cheese. So we got it put in place.
Curry is a mixture of several spices (called a Masala) stir in the oil containing a paste of onion, ginger, garlic and tomatoes. And depending on what you add, is that for various curry dishes. Most dishes at Karrysutra available with chicken, lamb, shrimp or vegetarian.
On the side
Rice and bread order to separate unless you order a menu, consisting of a chef's favorite dishes, fried rice and a small portion strimet Iceberg lettuce and mint yoghurt. It can be recommended. Compared with them, they are ordinary curry dishes very boring.
Rice is available in four versions: regular basmati rice, Indian rice turned into oil and spiced with cumin and garam Masala, mushroom rice and rice with egg.
The loaves are large and novice, and you can choose between naan with or without garlic, Roti, which is flat bread baked of coarse flour and chapatti that is pancake thin.
Want a feast, so order some appetizers and a couple of small, vegetarian delicacies like. potatoes or spinach in curry or dall (lentils spiced with garlic, cardamom and lemon). You can also get a squeak end Indian sweet cake.
Lassi is not a dog
Are you afraid that your curry is too hot, so order a Lassi to. Lassi is the Indian answer to a smoothie. It is made of yoghurt and banana or mango, and good to turn off chili-fires. Karrysutra do not sell alcohol, but you can not be satisfied with a Lassi or Indian tea, then go to Iso or Irma and purchase a weiss bier (wheat) or an ice-cold Corona with lime. A white wine with a little sweetness works well.
