I get many queries through IID forum about giving birth in Denmark and process for baby`s passport and visa. I have tried to explain this in the best possible manner here.

Giving birth to my sweet little angel daughter was probably the best experience I had so far in Denmark.   Everything has been smooth sailing so far, right from pregnancy, birth, post delivery baby care, passport etc.

The health care system in Denmark is fantastic, trouble free and paperless. Right from the time I found out about my pregnancy and to this date today, things have been quite easier. The hospital, the nurses, the doctors, the midwives, all of them take good care of you throughout.

But post delivery, the biggest concern is getting the passport and the visa of the baby.

We got the birth certificate for our daughter from the Church immediately after going there. We did not have to submit any application seperately or wait for it....Please ensure that you get the certificate was both in Danish and English language because Indian Embassy would ask for the translated copy. Once you have recd the certificate from Church, you have to get it stamped from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denmark. It is done as soon as you go to their office.

After that, you can apply for passport at Indian Embassy. You can download the forms and read all info on their site

We got the passport within 15 days, it was very quick. However afte getting the passport, you will have to apply for the visa at Danish Immigration Services. The visa takes atleast 2 months or may be more, depending on them. You can download the form and read all infor on their site

In case its urgent for you to travel to India and you have still not recd visa, you can request the Danish Immigration office to put a STICKER on baby passport which may allow you to travel for the time being.

Hope this helps all expecting mothers out there.
